I got a great little recipe and product for you. The nice people from Laura’s Lean Beef contacted me a while ago about their product. They sent me some vouchers and I went out and got some of their 8% lean ground beef.
We made these beef empanadas — one of the recipes on their website. They turned out great and were really kid-friendly. The kids dipped them in the guacamole and I served them with black beans. But before I reveal the giveaway, a little more about Laura’s Lean Beef…
In 1985 Laura Freeman, a seventh-generation cattle farmer, took over her family’s business. She started experimenting with lean, gourmet breeds of cattle including Limousin and Charolais — and made the decision not to use antibiotics or hormones at a time it was acceptable to do so.
Today, Laura’s Lean Beef is available in 7000 stores throughout 47 states. Her meat is free of antibiotics and added hormones and all cattle live in pastures and graze on natural grasses and grains. All of their farmers follow strict standards for raising and treating cattle.
Laura’s Lean Beef has been awarded the Good Housekeeping Seal and 5 of its products are certified by the American Heart Association. Check out their site for more information.

We’re really trying to focus on eating food that is not only healthier for us, but also the environment. This would be a great way to add a ‘next step’ to that plan!
I would love to try a healthier version of beef because it sounds delicious and my husband refuses to eat ground turkey.
I’m always trying new foods and love to try and serve unhealthy foods healthier. I’d love to see what I could do with these. We’ve never tried empanadas before so I’m eager to try them!
I signed up for the RSS!
I would like to win it because I actually already buy it occassionally when I see it somewhere.
I forwarded this e-mail to a friend.
I would love to try those empanadas!
I would love to win a Laura’s Lean Beef voucher because (1) my family is in the process of switching to organic, hormone-free, antibiotic-free animal products and (2) we are trying to save $ everywhere we can (which is not always easy when trying to eat healthy & safe foods). This will definitely help us along the path to healthy (& less costly) eating.
I just shared this post on Facebook! =)
I just “Liked” Raise Healthy Eaters and Laura’s Lean Beef on Facebook.
I already receive the Raise Healthy Eaters email updates, so I just forwarded your email to a friend.
Over the past few years we have been transitioning to organic food so this beef would be perfect for us.1 Thanks for the great giveaway!
I shared it on facebook!
I liked you on facebook :).
Great giveaway! I always want to buy the leaner meats, but they are so much more expensive that I find myself purchasing the fattier ones. A voucher would certainly help!
I tweeted the giveaway
I’d love to win because the product sounds great – low fat, grass fed and antibiotic free.
I would like to win it because I was a beef eater throughout my childhood. My first burger on the college campus was awful and stopped me cold in my tracks for years. I now eat beef again and when I do, I want it to be good, not junk, beef. This is good beef!
I love their products, but I don’t buy often due to cost. I would love to win this and treat my red meat-loving husband to a nice meal 🙂
We’ve never tried this before, and we would love to. A health option for beef sounds great!
I LOVE Laura’s beef. I’m also so glad it widely available.
I’m on the RSS feed! Thanks!
If I won these vouchers, I would get steaks for us to grill. We love grilled steaks and veggies during this time of year. I would also use leftover veggies or steak for stir fry the next day. We love beef so having healthier options is always wonderful.
We love Laura’s Lean beef. I always buy the ground beef and would love to try some steaks!
I’m already a fan of RHE, so I “liked” Laura’s Lean Beef on Facebook.

Never heard of this, but would love to try it! My husband won’t eat ground turkey (unless he doesn’t know about it), so this would be great for him! My little eater doesn’t care so much. =)
I liked Raise Heatlhy Eaters on facebook!
I would like to win because I refuse to buy “normal” ground beef at the grocery store after learning that the USDA has approved ammonia treated “pink slime” to be a part of an increasing amount of our ground beef supplies in the this country. Laura’s Beef Products are normally just too expensive for my budget so right now I just buy ground turkey.
I would love to win these vouchers because while I love the leanness of turkey, my kids prefer beef and this would be great to help is eat healthy & make tasty meals will kids will love!

Great blog!!
Our super target carries some of her products and they’re great! I’d love a voucher – maybe we can try something new.
I love a product that raises animals like they should be raised!
The reason I would love to win one of these vouchers, is because we are a family of four living off one income, however most of our income is spent on organic and natural whole foods (paleo). There is no other way to eat and it is important to have these foods to teach my children the healthy way to eat. Anyways, we live paycheck to paycheck (penny to every last penny) and meat is often the most expensive part of our budget.
Another random fact, I live in such a small town that only ONE store carries Laura’s beef – a local kroger. I try hard to hoard it whenever it is available 😉
Good info on the site
I have “liked” you, and already “liked” laura’s beef on facebook 🙂

I was recently diagnosed as Pre-diabetic so I am adjusting my diet to try to control it. Eating leaner meat is one of the things i have been doing. I soooo don’t want to start insulin!!! So better diet it is!! As a by product of this, i am finding all kinds of new products that are great tasting and healthy. I am sure this will be one of them.

Just watched Food, Inc. with my husband, and I was made VERY aware of how most of our meat is produced. I love that Laura’s beef is raised humanely and without antibiotics. I’ve had it before, and it’s great.

One of my coworkers used to make empenadas for me. Never had anything so yummy. I moved away married and have not had one since. That was at least 11 years ago since I last had one. Bring me a love I have been missing 🙂

I would love to support a company that cares about the health and well being of the folks who eat their products! Its so hard to find good beef that isn’t pumped full of antibiotics and steroids, and when you do find it it costs an arm and a leg. Kudos to a company that cares!
I am so going to make these empanada’ this week! Laura’s Lean Beef rules!
I would love to try this since the ground beef I had today was so gross and left a waxy greasy feeling… yuck!
I tweeted it:)
I also shared it with my friend whose son has major food allergies…
And I “liked” you on facebook:) So happy to have found this site. SO helpful!
I live Laura’s lean beef. I will purchase no other. If its later in the evening and my Kroger is out, I will change my dinner plans.
Laura’s beef is factory farmed. I wish people would take the time to visit the farms and see what these animals eat. They do not eat any grass. They are fed GMO corn which is bought from the large processors the other factory farms use. The only difference in Laura’s beef is that poop is cleaned out more often and harsher sanitiziers are used to spray the entire area down so that antibiotics don’t need to be given to the animals in their food (which I repeat is GMO CORN).
