This giveaway is now closed!

Last month Raise Healthy Eaters turned one. I wanted to do something special for you, my readers, to thank you for your support. But it took a little time to make happen. Or at least that’s my excuse for the belated gift-giving.

In the survey, I conducted last fall many of you said “time” was your biggest barrier to preparing balanced meals. I make no secret that I LOVE the slow cooker for this very reason. It’s the ultimate meal-making time saver.

According to Consumer Search, All-Clad is one of the top-rated slow cookers. It’s made of stainless steel and it’s programmable meaning you can instruct it when to stop cooking and switch to warm. It retails for $199.99.

All Clad programable slow cooker

So, I wrote the folks at All Clad, told them how great you all are, and asked them to donate one.  Add they said “yes!”

But I thought that with summer coming many of you might stop using the slow cooker. This would be a mistake because there’s so much more to the crockpot than stews and soups.

I got in touch with Stephanie O’ Dea from A Year of Slow Cooking.  Her bestselling book, Make it Fast, Cook it Slow, is a great example of what is possible with the slow cooker, even in the summer.  She agreed to send the winner a copy of her book.

Make it Fast Cook it Slow book cover

So, the winner of this anniversary giveaway will get a top-of-the-line slow cooker and an awesome cookbook written by a busy mom of three.  If I could enter this giveaway I would.  But that would be unethical (right??).

Okay.  Here’s what you have to do to enter:

1) Leave a comment saying why you like the slow cooker or why you want one.

2) For an additional entry, sign up for email updates or RSS Feed. If you already subscribe tell at least one friend about Raise Healthy Eaters.  Leave another comment saying what you did.

3) To increase your chances further, become a Facebook fan. If you are already a fan, suggest some of your friends become a fan.  Leave another comment saying what you did.

4) And for a bonus entry, tweet or blog about this giveaway.

This giveaway will end next Friday the 23rd at midnight. The winner will be picked at random.org.  Good luck!

Don’t miss some of my crockpot favorites recipes.

With the varied schedules we’re keeping these days, a slow cooker seems like a great solution for hot food at different times of the evening. Now that I’ve dug around on the web for recipes (and you’re also including a cookbook!), there are lots of dishes I’m looking forward to trying in this if I win. Thanks for the chance!

For 5 months after my husband and I moved into our home, we didn’t have a stove or oven. So I had to learn other way of preparing meals. My favorite way to prepare a meal was in the crock pot. I still use it often, even though we had an range now.

I would love a slow cooker because I never learned to cook. With two young kids, I am trying to learn, but it is harder than it looks! haha Also, one child is nearing a diagnosis of celiac disease, which will be a total blow to our barely-there menu. eek!

I love using the slow cooker because it makes me feel like I’m an old fashioned home-maker that spent the entire day cooking for my family, even though I work full-time and take online courses late-nights, with two toddlers. Dinner is an important time for our family and sharing this time over a hot meal is valuable without the stress of cooking after a long day.

I love my slow cooker but could always upgrade. I use the slow cooker on the days I’m writing as I get so engrossed in what I’m doing I don’t want to stop to cook. Setting up the cooker before I get to my desk saves my family from many a burned dinner.

There are so many days that are so full, that there is no time to get dinner ready, that’s when my friend, the crockpot, steps in and makes it all better!:) Having one this ‘fancy’ would simply be icing on the cake,so to speak, and give us a great opportunity to have ‘it’make the meals even more than me! LOL!

Love the Crockpot! Works great for homemade chicken stock. Throw a chicken in on top of some veggies (carrots, celery, onions, parsely), cook 4 hours … take out the chicken, use the meat for soup or chicken salad of tacos then put the carcass and some extra necks or feet and water and cook for 12-24 hrs. Yum!

The programmable feature on this model would be perfect, because I’m often limited by what recipes I can make since I leave so early in the morning and don’t want to risk having food overcook.

I would love a new state-of-the-art crockpot. Mine is so old the ‘crock’ is non removeable and very hard to clean. To progam mine to stop/start when I’m not home, I have to use my christmas light timer!!

I’ve always wanted to try slow cooking and finally decided to just buy one and dive in. I found the website A Year of Slow Cooking and just fell in love with the idea that cooking could be so easy. I bought a slow cooker but it’s kindda small…the one that is being given away looks awesome! I also just signed up for email update! Thanks! =)

I am saving to buy one, so even though it seems unlikely for me to win one, I might as well try. It am a but hesistant to leave a pot cooking while I am at work, do they have a timer, can I program it. Those are probably the most expensive ones. Love your ideas for healthy cooking.

I loved my crockpot and it died at Christmas. I loved being able to set it up the night before, put the insert in the fridge, then in the morning, just plug her in and let her rip.

When I come home from work, and if the side was egg noodles, I would put a pan of water on, get changed, check my email, kids set the table and before you know it, dinner is done. I love the smell of dinner cooking when I walk into the door.

I would love to win a new slow cooker! I currently have one but it’s small and not very good. I would go out an buy one but were on a limited budget right now and it will have to wait.

I love my slow cooker because I can start a meal early in the morning while I still have energy and them in the evening all the work is done. Not to mention that it also means only having one dish to clean up and avoiding the drive thru at dinner time.

    I hope I win.

7 months ago I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease. For several months we went back to eating the absolute BASICS – we’re talking a meat, two veggies, and some milk. EEEEK! Then I discovered the glorious nature of the slowcooker. Now that I’m finally getting my cooking legs under me and becoming more confident in my ability to cook gluten free, I am becoming increasingly dependent on the crock pot! My husband is active duty military and puts in his full days there and I am working on a M.S. thesis full time. It’s soooo hard to eat healthy when we’re both so busy, but because of diet and budget constraints, we don’t have the option of just running down the street to pick something up! The crockpot has saved me so much stress and time, but ours is in major need of help! It would be such a blessing to have one large enough to REALLY cook! Thanks for the giveaway and for all the hard work you put in to this blog! 🙂

The slowcooker sounds like the perfect way to get a meal on the table for my husband and I before 9pm at night! We always end up doing bath, breastfeed and bedtime from 7-8pm each night with our baby so dinner always gets started after our son is in bed. With the slowcooker we could have our dinner ready to go just as our boy is being tucked up in bed. Now that would be nice 🙂

I love cooking in a slow cooker. It saves time so I can play with my 3 year old.

My crockpot lid broke and it costs half the price of a new crockpot to replace, but can’t justify a new pot right now (I bought it just over a year ago).

My slow cooker gives me time to put in time at the gym after work and still have the time to eat healthy and maybe even get something done on a normal night!

I have two slow cookers and and one died about a month ago. I feel lost without it. I love my slow cookers and this would be great.

I would love a new slow cooker! I’m a huge fan of slow cooker meals and it would be nice to have an updated one to start my STAY AT HOME MOMMY job in just 6 short weeks!

I like this crockpot! I would feel so “gourmet” versus my ancient “hi-lo-off” crockpot.

I’m a fan of Stephanie’s ‘A Year of Slow Cooking’ website. She has some good recipes and ideas on her website.

I would LOVE to have this crockpot and the cookbook! I always struggle to find ways to save time and still cook healthy meals for the family. I live in Germany and it seems really hard to get hold of a slow cooker over here. So I really hope I’ll win! 🙂
