Compared to the Holy Grail of family dinners, breakfast is the forgotten meal. Maybe it’s because when kids are in school it needs to be fast and something that will fill them up. But it’s such a great opportunity to nourish and start the day on the right foot.

Since revamping my dinners with last year’s 30 meals in 30 days challenge (it was way more than 30 days but that’s okay), I’ve been focusing on breakfast. That’s why Katie Morford’s book, Rise and Shine: Better Breakfasts for Busy Mornings, came at the perfect time. If you don’t know Katie, she runs the popular site Mom’s Kitchen Handbook and is author of Best Lunch Box Ever. (more…)

This book looks fantastic! I love breakfast but get stuck in a rut, especially now that school has started for my 3 girls. Not only are we in a rush in the mornings, I can’t think of anything new (or healthy) to make us.

Weekday breakfasts with the kiddo are usually a cereal or bagels and turn weekends are usually pancakes… I love cooking but am not very creative breakfast for some reason! I love the sound of this book and would be delighted to broaden our breakfast horizons!

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day! (In fact we served breakfast at my wedding even though it was at 6pm!) Sadly, my 4-year-old daughter does not share my love for the first meal of the day. I would LOVE this cookbook to help me help her come to appreciate the glory of breakfast!

I would love a cookbook like this! I have a toddler who wakes up hungry, so it would be nice to have a quick, wholesome meal. And it would be nice to have more variety in what I already do.

With three kids that are always up before the sun rises we seem to have loads of time to cook up breakfast rather than dinners when our schedules are tighter and dad is usually away. Breakfast is important with our long days not only for eating but for being together. As fall and winter set is this book would be perfect for out family!
